It is said that all stories must have a begining and so too, I guess, must a blog, or an online presences, or a carrier. Being here and writing this is daunting, to say the least. And yet, I must begin or I may never find the end to which I aspire. The short and the long of it is that I am a writer.

What a difficult thing to say and yet in many aspects it is the one and only thing that sums up who I am. Since elementary school I have been bitten by the story bug, first seen in my love of literature and later in all things, be they movies, manga, or games, that contained thrilling, exihlarating, or heartwarming stories. My life revolves around the story and I live, at least half of the time, in the world of stories. On top of my love of consuming stories I have also been creating and writing my own since junior high. So while I sometimes tremble in fear that I have no right to use the title of writer, it is in all aspects who I am.

So I am taking my first tentative steps into blogging and putting my words and myself out into the digital world. What I hope to accomplish with this blog is two-fold. First it is to create a space for myself and to, yes, hopefully make a presence or name for myself. Secondly I am hoping that I will also be able to connect with others that share my same interest in stories and how they shape our world. Along with this I am also hopeful that this blog will aid me in shaping and elevating my writing skills.

On that note, what will my blog be about? I hope to, at least for now, focus on three things within this blog. The first is what I am going to be calling my Gem’s. There is nothing I hate more than being asked the question what is your favorite _____. And most especially when it comes to books. Of course if I am tied down to just one answer it will be Lord of the Rings, for both books and movies. But that answer is so inadequate and barely scratches the surface of what I love. There are so many books, movies, manga’s, and anime’s that have touched me and inspired me at different times in my life. So I will, at least once a month, be writing a post about a Gem in my life. These are not reviews. I will not be giving an impartial description of them. Rather, it will simply be me detailing the stories that I love and why.

My second type of post will be ‘Talking About Writing’. These will simply be as they are stated, a place for me to talk about writing. This may include talking about story structure, world building, etc. Or it may simply be a post about my own writing, difficulties I am struggling with or things I have accomplished. I have not yet set a schedule for these types of post’s. I want to get a better idea of how easy or difficult these types of post’s are for me to write but I will try to do at least one a month.

The last type of post I will be doing is based around writing prompts and will be done twice a month. Currently I am participating in a writing group where we start with responding to a writing prompt. I find these fascinating and a great exercise. So, every time I have writing group I will share the prompt we were given and then post my writing based off of that prompt. We only spend about fifteen to twenty-minutes on these prompts so I will take the time to flesh out and edit my responses before posting them on the blog. I hope that these will give people a sense of my own writing and inspire others.

Whew. Well, I think that is all I have to say for the moment. I hope that this will be both an enjoyable and rewarding new endeavor for me as well as something enjoyable for you.
